12/4/2023 0 Comments Sabrent rocket control panelThe controller itself appears to be the same. 2TB has gone 2GB to 1GB for the Inland and Rocket as well. However it is my understanding that the most popular budget drives - SP P34A80, Inland Premium, Sabrent Rocket - had 1GB at 1TB and now have 512MB in their changed layouts (E12 -> E12S). As for DRAM, this is some matter of contention as lower-capacity drives often had less DRAM (it's not as necessary as the controller requires at least 1TB to reach peak performance due to number of dies/CE). The flash is 96L and denser but even this can vary (Sabrent lists both B27A and BiCS4). In general the change allows the drive to be single-sided at 1TB and also opened the door for a 4TB SKU (which does have specific hardware for this reason), thanks to four NAND packages per side. I've had a lot of people send me their information (via the VLO utility) of both old and new drives. Sabrent now lists multiple configurations for the Rocket (3.0) drive on its website. Has anyone else bought a Rocket in the last month or so and can confirm this? Maybe it's only on the 1TB model and not the 2 or 4TB models?ĮDIT: This is already being discussed in detail here: The E12 has been shown to be a great controller and the Sabrent Rocket was a great deal with the E12 at its price. I saw that in a recent review of a 1TB model that someone discovered that they quietly switched from the Phison E12 to a Phison E8 a new revision E12S sometime recently, which is an inferior controller may have less DRAM. The PCI-E 3.0, not the newer 4.0 version. I was looking at buying a Sabrent Rocket NVMe drive. The 10% rule is enforced on /r/hardware repeat offenders and/or your website or channel may be banned.
